The Mandela family would like to add their voice to salute the Greatest Of All Time, Muhammad Ali.

Ali IMG_2029The Mandela Family has learnt with great shock about the passing of an Icon, we would like to send our sincerest condolences to the family. This sad time brings to mind special memories of their family’s encounters with that of Muhammad Ali and his family.
Before her fight with Gwendolyn O’Niel, Laila Ali visited with our family in South Africa.
“When Laila asked to see my mother, she said that it only made sense for her to get strength from a formidable woman before going into a fight. We made it happen, at our home in Soweto.
I missed out on her magical win against Gwendolyn O’Neil : it happened so quickly in the FIRST round, as I was busy ensuring that Tata was seated comfortably.
When I looked up, Gwendolyn was down and Laila was still raring to go! The fight was over. This was the great Muhammad Ali’s daughter, after all.” -H.E Ambassodor Zindzi Mandela
Ms. Winnie Madikizela- Mandela received news with sadness and she too recalled the special moments with the sporting legend and his family.
“To Laila and the family, I have had the special honour to meet your dear father and encounter your greatness. I have no doubt that like the champions you are, in your own right, your family will rise above this tragedy and rely on the resounding messages of love and hope to spur you all to the next chapter of this great legacy.
May The Champion’s soul rest in eternal peace. He was truly The Greatest.
